Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer is the first syndicated television series based on Mike Hammer, the hard-boiled private Detective.

There were films, novels, comic books, radio shows and TV-series. In 1954 a television pilot was developed starring Brian Keith, written and directed by Blake Edwards, that version wasn’t picked up.

4 years later there were 78 half an hour episodes written by Frank Kane, Bill S. Ballinger, aired from 1958 – 1960 in which Darren McGavin played the title role.

Mike Hammer is a private investigator, who has a 45 Colt M 1911, in a shoulder harness under his left arm. The colt was called Betsy and his best friend was Pat Chambers, Captain of Homicide, NYPD.
