Dick Starrett, played by Patrick O’Neal, was an American insurance claims investigator, who was married to Jane, an attractive English woman, whom he called “Duchess”, played by Hazel Court.
Jane’s parents had difficulty accepting Dick because he was an American and a “commoner”.
Quite often his wife got involved in a comical vein in his insurance cases. In three episodes Richard Wattis played Dick’s friend and partner and he was called Peter Jamison.
Sometimes Inspector Stark of Scotland Yard played by Michael Shepley, helped Dick with his cases. Another helping hand was Rodney, played by Ronnie Stevens, an employee in Dick’s office.
Sheldon Reynolds was the executive producer of the 26 thirty-minute-episodes.
