(1959-1960)

Bourbon Street Beat is a private detective Series which aired on the ABC network from 1959-1960 and featured Andrew Duggan as Cal Calhoun, Richard Long as Rex Randolph. They were supported by the young assistant, Van Willliams as Kenny Madison and the secretary Arlene Howell as Melody Lee Mercer.

The gag in the series was how Rex and Cal said “Hello” to each other, because they didn’t shake hands, no the two put their shoes “sole to sole” together in a “New Orleans-style” greeting.

Bourbon Street Beat was not as successful as all the other detective shows. After the show was dropped Rex Randolph turned up in the series 77 Sunset Strip. Kenny Madison went to Hawaii and ended up on “Surfside 6”.

There were 39 sixty-minute episodes which were directed by William Hole Jr., Leslie Martinson, James V. Kern, Charles Rondeau and Reginald Le Borg and produced by William Orr and Charles Hoffman.
